Get a Sugar High at Sugar Bar

Visiting the Sugar Bar in Suncrest Towne Centre is the adult version of the phrase “a kid in a candy store.” The inside is charming with a bright neon “Life is short, so make it sweet” scrolled across the greenery wall. The display cases span the length of the store, full of colors and icing. They are filled with macarons, cakes, cookies, and pastries in every size you could imagine, but mostly super-sized. When I say super, I am specifically thinking about the cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies.

Cookie and latte at sugar bar.

Yes, what is pictured is a chocolate chip cookie - look at the hand comparison! Despite its size and thickness, it is still soft when you break it apart and bite in. I would be surprised at anyone who just… eats this cookie whole. It has some weight to it. I gave the store a call to find out, and they weigh in around 5.7 oz! That’s a huge cookie. I had the chance to watch them bake these - the dough balls are shaped like super-sized scoops of ice cream before they are put into the oven.

The other cookies I tried were Sugar Bar’s macarons. Made with almond flour and different fillings, I tried the chai, fruity pebble, and red velvet that were available. Chai was my favorite flavor of the three (that’s why it’s not pictured in the photo - I ate it), but they are, all delicious. They are soft and lightly chewy, with a paper-thin shell that is decorated delicately. Flavors change often, especially with the season - that means you could try something new every time you walk in!

I think these macarons paired with a Sugar Bar cake and cupcakes decorated to a theme would be the perfect addition to a dessert table at a group celebration, which they also do!

In addition to desserts, Sugar Bar serves a full coffee menu. Their iced Snickerdoodle latte is my go-to. This latte is made from espresso with milk, cinnamon, and white chocolate topped with whipped cream and cinnamon sugar. It is aptly sweet, and not for anyone who prefers to drink their coffee black.

I’ll keep this review short and sweet - just like my visits to the Sugar Bar are. 10/10 I’ll be back again, especially when I need a pick-me-up!
