Top 3 Bagel Bakeries in Morgantown

Where can you find a house-made bagel in Morgantown, WV? There seem to be no obvious bread bakeries around town, but if you take a closer look, you’ll find a few. Clearly, I have a love for breakfast sandwiches, and maybe we’ll get a blog post on that soon. But we’ll deconstruct the sammie for now and just focus on the carb that holds it all together: bagels.

Zeke’s Breakfast and Bakes - Downtown

Sandwich: Breakfast bagel with a side of potatoes

Instagram Review: Zeeeeeeke’s! The hungover students of WVU have been waiting for something like this! I have been waiting for this! Regardless of your morning status, this restaurant is the place to go. Dare I say that their bagels are the best in town? The sandwich was hearty. The taters were soft - which is not my usual morning request - I prefer crispy - but they were still tasty. I’ll be honest, I didn’t love the mocha as it wasn’t as sweet or chocolatey as I’d like, but I’ll totally come back to chomp down on a breakfast sammie. Bread = life!

The Grind - Downtown

Sandwich: Egg, Bacon & Cheese on an Asiago Bagel

Instagram Review: Back on my breakfast sammie bullsh*t and OMG the bagels from The Grind are bread heaven. This sandwich is so tasty and not dry, even without spreads or dips. This sandwich was just plain old delicious, and that’s all I can ask for this morning. This sandwich was my favorite of all three of the places listed on this post.

NEW! Goodfellow’s Bakery - Donn Knots Blvd

Sandwich: Egg, Sausage & Cheddar on an Asiago Bagel

Instagram Review: This place was great! The prices were phenomenal. I have not seen prices like Goodfellow’s since before the pandemic. They also bake ALL of their bread, which makes this place even better. If you’re looking for homemade French bread, ciabatta, biscuits, bagels, and any other type of bakery item, they’ll have it. This bakery also offers sweets like scones, cupcakes, custom cakes and cookies.
