Best Italian Restaurants in Morgantown, According to Locals
Every month on the Foodie Talk with The Morgantown Dish Facebook Group, I conduct a poll asking for local foodie’s votes on the best types of restaurants around town. Best breakfast, best burgers, best vegan restaurants - you name it. This round was for the best Italian restaurants in town. I pulled the top 5 answers with the majority of the votes. Here they are:
#5 Nonno Carlo
12% of Votes
Nonno Carlo is home for me. I love their pizza, which is the perfect size for just me to eat right up. And then I get their caprese as well - how can you resist house-made mozzarella?! Take a trip down memory lane with me during my first visit to this little Italian restaurant.

#4 Mama K’s
14% of Votes
The newest Italian restaurant in Morgantown, Mama K’s is tucked away in a corner of Star City. The team was so welcoming and excited that I visited! They recommended all sorts of menu items that definitely were worth the try. Read about the fusili vodka served “K-style” in a tin pan!

#3 San Marzano
16% of Votes
San Marzano is a relatively new Italian and catering restaurant in the Cheat Lake Area. House-made bread, pasta, pizza, and biscotti mark this experience. It is right across the road from its sister restaurant, Annie’s Coffee & Creamery, and from my review of Annie’s, I expect nothing but greatness from this restaurant as well.

#2 Stefano’s
21% of Votes
This place is on my 2024 bucket list, and I will most likely go with my partner for my birthday in May. Higher-end, date night vibes with a big wine list. I’m in!

#1 Oliverio’s
30% of Votes
With 30% of all of the votes, this restaurant is a classic in the Wharf District. Originally opened in Bridgeport, Oliverio’s in Morgantown has been a long-standing family-owned and operated Italian joint. This was one of my first Morgantown restaurant visits, before I even started The Dish. My favorite so far is their lobster ravioli. This is a decadent treat I don’t get to enjoy very often! You will also find your classic Italian favorites here. A tried and true, comfort-food haven!

Other recommendations from Morgantown locals to consider are Puglioni's Pasta & Pizza (Pug’s Homemade) and Sargasso, although I wouldn’t consider the latter Italian but rather new American cuisine.
